Gauthier
Writer, Creator of Patches the Beaver™
Shane Gauthier has a Bachelor of Education, with distinction and
a Master of Education in Educational Psychology, both from the University of Alberta. His undergraduate and graduate research focused on educational philosophy, educational psychology, education, and
multi-culturalism/diversity. He is currently pursuing his Master in Liberal Arts in Management at Harvard University with a focus on Aboriginal land and environmental management. In 1999, Shane was bestowed the Mensa and ABC Award from the Department of Educational Psychology of the University of Alberta.
Shane is very proud to have two special education awards in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta; both awards bear his name. These two annual awards recognize the top undergraduate and graduate papers in the area of special education.
Shane has been a faculty member for over six years at the Banff Centre in their Aboriginal Leadership Program and worked as a Research/Communications Manager at the Métis Settlements of Child and Family Services Authority of the Government of Alberta. Currently, he is the
Consultation Manager of Land and Resource Issues at International,
Intergovernmental, and Aboriginal Relations.
Shane has dedicated his life to supporting and working towards bettering the lives of Aboriginal children, youth and families and to the importance of ethno-cultural education and awareness. His first book in the “Patches the Beaver™” series aims at teaching children about the rich cultural mosaic that make up the communities of the world.
